Functional Analyst
Role Description
As a Functional Analyst, you will translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and ensure that software systems are configured and delivered to meet those needs. You will work closely with business users to understand their processes and with technical teams to ensure solutions are implemented correctly.
You will be involved throughout the system lifecycle, from requirements gathering and functional design to configuration, testing, and post-implementation support, acting as the bridge between business needs and system capabilities.
Key Responsabilities
- Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed functional specifications.
- Configure and customize systems or applications to meet documented business requirements.
- Collaborate with developers and technical teams to ensure functional specifications are correctly implemented.
- Design and document functional workflows, business rules, and system behavior.
- Support and execute functional testing, including test case design and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Identify gaps between business requirements and system functionality, proposing solutions or workarounds.
- Provide functional support to end users, troubleshooting issues and clarifying system behavior.
- Participate in system implementation, upgrade, and migration projects.
- Prepare user guides, training materials, and functional documentation.
- Stay current with the functionality and best practices of the systems/platforms supported, proposing improvements when relevant.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- [X]+ years of experience in a Functional Analyst or similar role.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate business needs into functional requirements.
- Experience configuring or supporting business systems (ERP, CRM, or similar platforms).
- Good understanding of business processes in [relevant domain, e.g., finance, supply chain, HR].
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional language is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed/remote team.
Main Tech Skills
- Business Systems: ERP (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) or CRM (Salesforce) platforms.
- Requirements & Documentation: functional specifications, business rules, process flow diagrams (BPMN).
- Testing: test case design, UAT coordination, defect tracking.
- Data Analysis: Excel (advanced), SQL for data validation and reporting.
- Project & Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow.
- Process Modeling: BPMN, UML (a plus).
- Reporting Tools: Power BI, Tableau, or native platform reporting tools.
- Methodologies: Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery frameworks.
- Integration Basics: familiarity with APIs and system integration concepts.
- Change Management: familiarity with training and change management practices.
